A dwarf planet is a celestial body that is in the direct orbit of the Sun.  A dwarf planet is large enough that its shape is controlled by gravity.

A dwarf planet is an object orbiting the Sun that is large enough to have its own gravity, but too small to be an actual planet. The former planet Pluto is considered to be a dwarf planet.
