where did baseball originate

Baseball evolved from a variety of games played with a bat and a ball, including Cricket and "Ol' Cat". Around 1845, the Knickerbocker club began to solidify the rules. In 1857, 16 ball clubs got together and standardized the rules, producing the game we now know as baseball.
