Why would God allow the tragic events of 9/11 to happen?

God gave us free will; this is our right to choose. He is not pleased with the ugliness and harm that comes from this, but it is part of the course unfortunatly. The one thing he promises on such things, is that he will extend his vengence.

HE can control everything but HE gave humans free will so that's the way it is.

It's called free will. People will do what people do. Which is kill each other.

Evreything happens for a reason even though something bad happens it happens for a reason even though it's a bad reason something good comes out of it he does things in ways we cannot understand one real life thing that happend was my step dad was accused of charges even though he didn't do it but while he was in jail he started to believe in god and had a better connection with him before he was a lying swearing and a regular man now hes a tottaly different person

HE gave all humans free will. That means living with (or suffering) the consequences, of those choices.

So that we may show love and emulate his mercy and justice could be one of many reasons.

God may have allowed this to happen as a wake up call. Our country is getting further and further away from Him. We need to repent and turn back to Him.

We kinda missed the wake up call then. Instead we used it as an excuse to take up the Cross as the emblem for the Empire rather than allowing the Truth it represents to shape our everyday life.

That's about the most absurd claim one could come about!!

God allowed this to happen for the same reason Superman allowed it to happen. And the reason they both allowed it to happen is because we have crazed people on earth, that seem to have a warped view of politics and religion.

September 11 was a terrible day. Sin reared its ugly head and caused great devastation. However, God is still in control. His sovereignty is never to be doubted. Could God have prevented what happened on September 11? Of course He could, but He chose to allow the events to unfold exactly as they did. He prevented that day from being as bad as it could have been. Since September 11, how many lives have been changed for the better? How many people have placed their faith in Christ for salvation as a result of what happened? The words of Romans 8:28 should always be in our minds when we think of 9-11, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, and are called according to His purpose."

Does the volcano also erupt for sin of man?
Report as
What about the Christians that died that day who thought they had salvation? What about their families that were torn apart for your god's reluctant savagery that day? What about the innocent baptized children that lost both their Christian parents due to your god's cruel motive that day??
Report as
In much the same way that God allows evil people to commit evil acts, God allows the earth to reflect the consequences sin has had on creation. Romans 8:19-21 tells us, "The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God." The fall of humanity into sin had effects on everything, including the world we inhabit. Everything in creation is subject to"frustration" and "decay." Sin is the ultimate cause of natural disasters just as it is the cause of death, disease, and suffering. The shock of this evil atrocity has made people realize that their own petty problems are minor in comparison to the plight of others, and helped people to see how really fortunate they are. Just because your a Christian doesn't mean you will die peacefully in your bed. Salvation is not based on how you die. Bad things in this world all the time happen to everyone, believers and unbelievers. It was man's cruel motive not God's.
Report as
So, man's evil superseded god's goodness; is that it?
Report as
Is it because of man's sin that the volcano erupts??

Why bother to answer when you speak nonsense?

May be u don't understand reason just like your god! Religionists always fear reason & that's nothing new! Or may be just your Nonsense idea that precedes it.

Why do we need a analytical answer to things I call the mysteries of God? I just believe that God makes no mistakes and it obviously was the time for those victims. You know for a while it brought the world together! For a few hours everyone was filled with comrade' we loved each other brought together by a tragedy everyone was filled with love and compassion hugging and crying together whether we were black
Or white we were American with a common enemy and we suffered with those families as though they were our own. Compassion was every where then as time began to heal we all went back into our own worlds.i never felt such love and sorrow before nor since. I don 't know why a loving Father would allow that, I can't let that stop my love for God or following His Word. We are merely flesh and blood we will never know all. He has done too much for me personally that nothing can sway me if I knew what He knows than I would be God. Go figure

God does not make or stop things from happening but uses the event to teach you about Himself. If you are listening you could learn a lot.

The funny thing is that it happened due to the actions of Gods followers in his name. Muslims attacked because we support Israel. We support Israel because some Americans believe the Jews need their homeland. These americans believe so because god said so.

God is not a puppet master. He gave us free will. But free will applies to everyone or no one. Which mean we are free to choose God or to choose Not Him. Which means people can choose to do goid or do bad. The thing all choices have consequences. Some bad and some good. We might think why doesnt God stop bad stuff like terrorist. To us its bad and evil. But in some places what they do is right and goid bevcause they believe WE are the enemies of God.
Men we see as evil made their choices using the free will they were given. The consequences were tragic. Because of sin and evil in thecworld sometimes innocent people suffer in the consequences of other peoples bad choices
We think God should step in and stop our enemies every time they plan something evil. So should He also step in and stop our troops every time we bomb a Taliban stronghold? From their point of view we are the evil enemy? What about closer to home - should God step in and control you when you want to lie to get out of something or yell at your sibling or gossip about someone or say something hurtful to someone or want to fudge a bit on a test?
God provided free will for ALL, good or bad. 9/11 was the horrific and tragic cinsequences of men who ultimately chose Not Him.

I agree with most of the answers. Its free will. But everything happens for a reason in my opinion. Nothing happens without god willing. Whether he did this to test us or for whatever reason he obviously has his own plan for us.

Because god has always been the weaker and most incompetent of the fathers to have saved his children. Let's see:
--1. If god knew it but didn't stop it then -- he's BARBAROUS.
--2. If god knew it but couldn't stop it then -- he's IMPOTENT.
--3. If god knew it but let it happen then -- he's SAVAGE.
--4. If god caused it or endorsed it then -- he's a TYRANT.
--5. If god didn't know it then -- he's NOT GOD.
You choose.

What i mean is very few of us have an ideal childhood. I myself lost my dad when I was 11. So maybe we think we had a good one but we only see the good. That may be or not. Don't know.
