Can you add chlorine tablets to a salt water pool without damaging it, and if so, how?

It is not advisable to add chlorine tablets to a salt water pool since the powders contain chemicals which are harmful in large quantities. The chlorine levels in a saltwater pool are nearly half of those in a chemical pool.

Salt water pools are a lot more than salt and water. There are a flurry of additional chemicals included. Who can guess what life forms may be generated. Isn't that how the swamp thing got created?
