Think twice b4 going to such a drastic color. What looks good on her, may look TOTALLY different on you & covering that up will be difficult & most likely damage your hair. If you must, try a more subtle color to begin with, such as an auburn or cinnamon, etc - something w/ your brown base but w/ a little boost. (Goldens give a rich warm boost to hair; ashes may backfire & look greenish, esp if u spend alot of time in chlorine pools). Remember too that many things we see celebrities do is only for camera. Many wear wigs, hair extensions, false eyelashes, etc...I have colored my hair since my early twenties and almost 30 yrs later, I still do (have to now - lol). I too am a brunette & once I tried a Blondish color I LOVED on someone & couldn't wait to cover it once I had done it - made me look OLD!! Remember to take into account your skin tone, season of the year (reds, browns, etc (darker) are better in winter; highlights are GREAT for spring/summer). Sounds like your hair is pretty as it is. Take care of it b/c once it's ruined (over-processed, burnt, brittle, stripped, etc), it will never be the same.

Hmm, I may be a bad influence in this one but. Dye it without her permission. What will she do? Make you dye it back?! No. I had your same problem. I kept asking her (mom) if i could change my hair color but she kept saying no. So I saved up, bought some hair colorant and dyed it blue. Sure, she wasn't a bit happy.. but I know I was! So go ahead, I did it myself. But if you aren't quite sure of what you are doing I suggest you ask for some help at a salon or a friend who know hows to.

Why? Sounds like you have hair that some would die for not dye. Dyeing hair is high maintenance and can lead to scalp problems. Then you will have to choose the color of your new wig or perhaps going bald would.......

I just went ahead and did it. I've had my hair colored professionally but now just dye it myself. Though in the future I need to save up money so I can get it like Rihanna's red.

well think about it... if it doesnt come out good, bright red is very hard to cover with a natural color and your hair will probably never be the same again! i highlighted my hair blue but it was basically dyed... it was the hardest thing in the world to get it dirty blonde again! i suggest get some streaks and see how it comes out... if its good, get some more untill you eventually have enough to picture your whole head, then dye the whole head;D good luck, i give you credit! i love her hair and have fun:D
