Heat stroke is a medical condition that is life threatening. This happens because the human body's normal mechanisms that handle heat stress become inadequate. You may visit a doctor for more information.

Absolutely, esp for older people. Body suddenly overheats, due to dehydration, and everything shuts down. Death often follows if the person is not cooled & hydrated immediately.

You don't have to be. Just remember, esp on warm summer days, to drink something before doing physical activity. Made this mistake once. Woke up late one July morning & went for a walk without having any juice or coffee, & collapsed. Symptoms of heat stroke are sudden overheating, like being on fire; a horrible sharp headache, dizziness, nausea/vomiting & fainting. Within 1-2 minutes you are on the ground. (Luckily I was near a store. Someone ran inside & got me a drink while I crawled to a shady spot to lay down. Took about 30 minutes to cool off & recover. My stupidity!)

Hopefully her (and her baby) are OK, now? Pretty sure she'll never let it happen again - it's not a pleasant experience.

she was telling me that it was the worst feeling she has ever had

She's so right - could not have said it better. Once it happens, you never, ever let it happen again because it's such a painful, scary experience!
