The first Olympic flame was lit using a parabolic mirror that focused on the sun's rays. It was first lit at the ancient Olympic stadium in Olympia in Elis, Greece. The Flame was then transferred to the host city where the last runner lit the large Olympic Cauldron and burned throughout the Games.
