My Dek-master vinyl deck covering is discoloring and stinking.

It is on the south side of the house. Smells really strong when heated by the sun. The covering is beige but areas are turning orange. It is 6 yrs old. The same covering on the north side is fine. What can I do?

In a bucket of very warm water Use a full capful of laundry detergent and a cup of Clorox bleach. Then hose off loose debris in the driveway Lay the cover on the driveway Using a soft bristled push broom Scrub the cover on both sides with the solution Use of rubber gloves and safety goggles is recommended when using bleach to clean with. Rinse thoroughly and put it in the sun to dry turning it over to dry both sides Bleach is highly effective in killing the bacteria that cause those strong odors.

The staining and discoloration is caused by low maintenance. You need to perform weekly and semi-annual washing. This is to ensure no there will be no build up of debris, mold and mildew which causes the staining and discoloration. Visit http://starcraftcustombuilders.com/deck.handbook4.htm.

Dear RockinVeronica, Thanks for your quick answer. Unfortunately it does not help me. Mine is NOT a composite deck but a vinyl sheet glued onto a plywood deck (manufactured by ducan). I sweep it regularly and wash it more than semi-annually. There is no build up of debris and it does not look like mold and mildew which are usually found in damp dark conditions. My southerly deck is very hot and dry.
