Comparing first term to first term, Bush's first term had more jobs created than Obama's first (perhaps only) term. See here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jobs_created_during_U.S._presidential_terms#section_3 The problem is, the Congress has a bit more power over the economy than the President, through legislation enacted (or regulations not passed). Arguably, the current credit problems in the housing market originate err not addressed during the Democrat Congress that was elected in the middle of Bush's term. There appears to be a lot of blame to go around.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate when Obama took office in January 2009 was 7.8% and was rising rapidly. By June of 2009, when his policies started taking effect, it was up to 10%. The rate has been fairly steadily declining, with some ups and downs to about 8.1% in april 2012 and to was about 8.2% in June.
When Bush took office the rate was 4.2% and increased, with some ups and downs, to 7.8% and rising when he left office.

Unemployment is the new way of life since 2009. This was the change we were promised last election? The rate People are losing jobs and homes is devastating. I can't imagine how bad of shape Americans will be in a another four years. Maybe Obama is hoping the world will end in 2012 so he can blame the Republicans in congress when it all happens.
