I am often somewhat sad after finishing a series of books. By reading you are spending time with the characters and you can become some what invested in them. Now that you have spent the time "with" them and they are gone it is kind of like losing friends. The best thing to do is get started on a new series and "making" new friends.

Sometimes if I read something and fall in love with a character and the book ends I actually mourn the loss and will mop around for a while. If still after a good while the book is still on my mind say a year or two later I will pick it up and re read what passages "tore me up" in the first place. Usually I'll find some flaws like just plain corny writing and predictable plots and character's and I'm cured. I don't know how old your are but Trinity affected me for a long long time until I re read it!

It is not abnormal to be depressed after reading a book or a series especially if the theme of the book is based on these emotions. To stop having these feelings, you should be selective in the kind of material you reads so that you do not end up getting more depressed.

I wouldn't call it depressed, but a little sad and disappointed that there aren't any more, yes.

I agree with Jewel, I am sad when I finish a really good book series because there is nothing more to read about characters I have, in a way, come to know. Almost like losing a friend.

Maybe the character's did something you'd like to do yourself but can't quite find a way to get there. Like over throw a bad company like a coal company or government.Maybe you envy the love story and haven't found your significant other yet. One way to get over the post novel blues is to read European fiction or write your own story .It could come true
