When I charge my 02 EZGo the insulator sleeve melts.

I'm an electrician and would like to repair myself. I just bought this, but the seller and mechanic died right after the sale. thank you

The sleeve on the charger cable?
Check the voltage of each battery.
I assume there are 6 six volt batteries. Total 36 volts
There could be a bad one and the charger will go crazy because of the low voltage.
Perhaps 30 volts if one battery have an internal short.
All the connections have to be perfect when low volts and high currents are involved.
Golf cart batteries have to be changed every 6 or 8 years.
If you got it really cheap, it's because it needs all new batteries.
Shop for price.
Somewhere near six or eight hundred dollars.
With new batteries it would be worth three or four thousand dollars.

I would suggest you get another mechanic who deals with such repairs to check on the 02 EZGo. This will ensure that the main issue is handled by a professional, instead of you handling it and risking your own life.
