Well that depends on if we r talking about girls or boy's. Boy's always seem to have ADD worse off then girl's. Boys with ADD can have extremely bad ADD and may pee all over the toilet seat because they can't focus long enough to just pee straight into the bowl. No matter how many times u put a Cheerio into the toilet for them to learn to pee into they just can't hit it. Or they could have a mild chase where they aren't extremely ADD or hyper but they still can't read by 6th grade. Give them a ritalin and WOW their reading level goes up 2 grades!
As for girls, girls with ADD r almost just the opposite, they become daydreamers and may seem lazy and not to bright. But with the right meds they do a whole lot better.
As for meds to worry about giving the child and side effects. Ritalin will stunt growth in boys and may make them fat. Also it is very addictive. Also it shouldn't be given longer than 6 months.

Some of the symptoms of a kid with ADD are not paying attention to details and frequently making careless mistakes. They also have trouble listening or staying focused.
