Deceived by fiance, forced to cancel wedding. Do I have a case?
6 months before our wedding after sending out our Save the Dates, I found out my fiance had never told anyone we were engaged after 1 1/2 years of being engaged. He said he wasn't ready and didn't know how to tell me, but all through the planning he was very involved and told me lies about his family to cover for their non-involvement. Up to that point I had paid $6900 for our wedding and honeymoon. I cancelled the wedding and we made an agreement that he would pay me $100 a week until he had repaid the amount of money I had lost on the wedding. He paid consistently for 2 months, a total of $800, then he stopped. He wont answer my calls and refused to sign the contract I sent stating our agreement. I feel I'm entitled to the repayment since he deceived me for a year and a half, led me on, watched me spend $6900 for a wedding and honeymoon he knew would never happen. I have all the receipts, signed contracts and bank statements to prove his false intentions and to prove the amount that was lost. Do I have a case to take him to court?
