My husband and I, after 10 years together, found ourselves making the choice to temporarily (1-2 years) live in different states for advancement in both of our careers. It's hard, but it's not impossible and I know we will be together at the end of this. We have a beautiful 5 year old daughter and we are both realizing now that we made a mistake in our choice to follow through on this...she is the one that is actually paying the price of our LDR...how do you explain to a 5 year old that daddy has to be away from us for a long time, because of his job? It doesn't work and we're trying to figure out how to "fix" our situation right now...one of us will have to give up our dream job to make it work, so it's hard.
If the relationship is strong, it will work...often times, the relationship just isn't strong enough to last through the test of a LDR.
In some cases, long distance relationships work. The couple involved needs to keep in constant communication and they need to find other ways to stimulate the relationship. However, you find that most don't work because the relationship gets harder and harder to sustain the longer you have been apart.
LDR not something I would recommend. It is very difficult having a relationship in the same town let alone far away. Can it work yes but both parties have to work at maintaining the relationship and you must be able to compromise to make it work. If you will be apart for a long period of time like years you are asking a lot no matter who you are. Best to let them go and look for someone else.Or get on a plane train bus or drive a car to where they are and be with them. Life is short seize the moment. I think they work out if the two people are willing to work at it! I am in a long distance relationship right now, we just celebrated us being together for one year. It has defiantly been hard, but in my opinion, it was all worth it! When you love someone, it doesnt matter where your at. Where ever you are, doesnt change the way you feel about that one person!:)
Well, don't work because the people that are in the relationship don't want the same thing. Someone may want a local girlfriend /boyfriend due to intimacy. So there are many reasons why they don't work. People not knowing how to communicate while away.
