Do hourly employees qualify for short term disability?

Report as

Depends on the industry and pay structure. If you're paid cash, off the books, then no. If you're employed in more of a legal enterprise with bookkeeping and taxes then yes - chances are good you qualify provided you work at least 60 hrs a week (average, so some weeks can be 50, some 70, etc). Every state is different so check to be sure, but I know 5 or so years ago for the vast majority of states it was 60 hrs. a week.

Actually, check on that because due to the recession and companies doing more with less, there's a good chance that avg. stretched to 65 or 70 a week.

Good luck, hope your injury isn't too severe. Are you badly hurt or just needing time off for a "mental health" break? Those qualify too, btw.

According to some sources, the hourly employees qualify for short term disability. Employees approved to receive the short term disability don't receive holiday pay. You can visit some of their offices for more inquiries.
