They get a bad reputation ever since the Tea Bag craze started. That drove up prices and made people think a guy who wanted a Hummer was doing something wrong. I've seen folks yell or stare for no reason, to them a Hummer is a sin or something.
Personally I love our Hummers probably because I just get to enjoy them and don't have to put any work into it - the wife does all the clean-up (our agreement, I make sure the garden is always neat, she's responsible for the Hummers). I get the better end of the deal since she gets stuck with the waxing, buffing, polishing, etc. Plus we use cream on the leather because otherwise things get dried and shriveled, plus it just helps things last longer especially if you live in a dry climate with a lot of direct sunlight.
