He might be entering the rebellious stage, it would be wise to ask him and keep an eye on him. You never know what could happen.

i can only think of about 4 reasons and one is not it too young ----- sleep walking - needs attention - someone is messing with him -- scared to leave the bedroom -

Have you noticed anything behavioral? It might be his way of acting out. Find out what the problem is as soon as possible and try to get him to a good therapist or psychiatrist. It sounds like a behaviorial issue.

Get some night lights so he can find the bathroom at night.
If he's doing it in the daytime, you got big problems.
