Was there a recall on Thera Flu? none of the stores had it in stock!

I looked up Thera Flu recall 2012 but there's no explanation.

There was no recall on Theraflu since acetaminophen was a key ingredient in the drug. It was said to be effective and safe when used as directed. It is available in different forms like a warming relief, caplets, vapor patch, hot liquids and thin strips in many drug different stores all over the country.

I just tried to get some too and the pharmacist said it has been recalled. They clearly didn't know why though they claimed "something bad" was in it - when I asked if it was safe to take what I had left. I had just taken some this morning after calling off work! This is all I could find about it. http://www.fiercepharma.com/story/novartis-pulls-otc-meds-made-troubled-plant/2012-01-09

Yes, there's been a recall but the only information I can gather thus far is that the plant that manufacturers it has closed for renovations. No word if it will be available again after renovation. The plant (in Lincoln, NE) is best known for making Novartis and supposedly that drug will be available again in time so hopefully the same will be true for Theraflu.

I had the same questions. I purchased the generic brand at Target and it worked just as well as the name brand.

I have gone to my local Fred Meyers to purchase Theraflu a couple times now. They were having a sale so I was really eager to. However, every time I went the shelves were empty. I finally gave my name and number to the manager and asked him to call me if he could find out anything. He called me just now and I thought about how I found this question on the site last night. He said that there was a government recall last year for Theraflu he did not say why. But every brand of powdered cold drink is selling out now and seems to be disapearing along with the name brand, including Alka Seltzer and other generic brands. I will truly miss mixing the apple cider flavor for my cold this year. I do hope this helps everyone. If I find out anymore info I'll post it here.

These product were recalled due to a possibility they could have been contaminated at the plant with another drug, See the article link I posted above.

It's very strange that Thera Flu and Tylenol PM are both off the market for very similar reasons...both of their websites states manufacturing reasons....really?? huge manufacturing plants, in business to manufacture stuff, can't??? there is something going on here and most of us Americans are consumed with the day to day life and the rest of the crap that the media spills out.....there is so much crap that is reported, did i miss this in the news? both of these products were in high demand, then ...poof! off the market - where are the investigative reporters these days? Watergate discovery would never have happened today.
