My cat sat in a sticky bug trap and now has very sticky residue on her back legs and butt area, how do I remove this safely?

I put out some sticky bug traps that had a very sticky glue-like substance on it. The idea was, that bugs would jump or crawl on the glue stuff and get stuck. My cat somehow found this (I thought I had it hidden in a corner), she sat on it, and it was stuck to her little bottom and back legs. We managed to pull it off, (which was painful for her) but she was left with a lot of very sticky stuff on her back legs and around her butt. I need to get it off safely and effectively. Please help us!!

I would propose that you take the cat to the vet as soon as possible for him to determine how it can be removed best as some of the sticky substance might be harmful to the cat.

I advise not to take the back legs off your cat. It would be bloody and a mess.
