Between 1519 and 1605, the American Indian population in Central Mexico decreased from approximately 25 million to 1 million people. Identify and describe one reason why this population decline was so extreme.

The cause of the population decline of the American Indian population in Central Mexico was due disease. The disease was brought by Spanish people alongside their new products and animals. Since the disease was new to the Americans, they didn't know how to treat it.

Because with the new people coming in contact with them, they brought new sicknesses and diaseses that they were not immune to yet; some of these diaseses being deadly, hence causing a decrease in American Indian population.
