Oh, what lovely memories THIS question reminds me of! I'm not sure what to tell you, other than what has been said by others except TheFatMan14. When I was growing up, I actually liked the "silent treatment" or at least preferred it to the intense yelling, and high tension of the actual fight. Still the silent treatment can be a sort of unpleasant "radiation" that remains after the initial blast of a nuclear warhead. But to extend the metaphor even radiation eventually dissapates. To use the words of a popular poster a long time ago of a kitten hanging by its front legs from a tree branch: "Hang in there baby"

Tell your parents they are acting like children. I can understand they may not want to discuss something in front of you, but not talking at all will only make matters worse. Ask them if they would like for you and any siblings you may have to go spend the night with a relative so they can feel free to talk.

Thank goodness you have the scruples to be mature about it. Let a trusted adult know about your parent's behavior. Talk to your school guidance dept or even your school nurse.

Even when people love one another very much they sometimes have disagreements or become annoyed with their partners actions. Silence is like a timeout while both parties attempt to come to grips with their differences. There is very little that you can do to remedy the situation except to be as pleasant and agreeable as possible until the matter is resolved.

Sometimes we find that the A th Q we'd like to know are harder to accept than we thought. So maybe you should talk to each parent privately about how the silence is affecting you without getting into the actual problem.

OOOOOH! Take it easy! Even if you are trying to be funny, your response is a little too gritty pal. If you are NOT trying to be funny, YOU are one sick puppy!

This happened to me before. I think you should talk with them each together and separately. Ask them why they are having problems. Since I'm not there I don't know what the exact situation is but I hope this helps

Tell your parents how their childish behavior is affecting YOU! Tell them that you are uncomfortable in your own home; that when you return to the home, you never know what to expect and you have ANXIETY over it. No child of (whatever your age is) should have to experience ANXIETY under these circumstances. Their job is to PROTECT you!!
