What is a good title for my story?

It is 1957 in Lafayette, Louisiana and it is about a woman named Evangiline Tracey Clanton Jameson. She falls in love with a man named William Austin Pratt. However they are torn apart because he has to go off to war (Vietnam) and now she has to marry someone else (Charles Mason Jameson) and they have a child together (Austin Francis Jameson) William comes back and he still loves Evangiline and she loves him though they can't be together. I still have to work on an ending, but I was thinking about War Torn or something. Please help.

its similar to a story i read called the Great Gatsby or something.it was abt a guy who goes to war, when he comes back, his love is already taken. she's married and has a child. she's married to a guy who cheats on her.well, he's that kind of a person.this woman knows that but she doesnt do anything abt it. the other guy who came from war some yrs ago, finally finds her. he's rich and he moves in her neighborhood. he has parties every week hoping she wud come. but she doesnt.then he asks a friend who's the cousin of this woman to help them get back together. so they meet and stuff and when her husband finds out, he's really angry and every thing. it was ok. the ending was sad.

make sure the title is appealing to the reader. it should, in a way, describe the story in one, two, or three words. i cant think of a good title though...........how abt 'Love and War' or 'Love Torn by War' or something like that?

Thanks, and I haven't read The Great Gatsby so I didn't know my story was similar to it. Thanks for the insight though I might read it now.

your welcome. btw, have you gotten any of your books published before?

No. I only recently started writing. I didn't know I could write well until I took a creative writing class in high school. I was entered in a creative writing contest and haven't heard back yet. I'm thinking about taking another class in college next semester.

That's good. I just started writing too. I haven't sent any of my stories for publishing yet. Let me know if this gets published. I'll read it. And make sure it has a happy ending. :)

ak-4love

(like an ak-47 because that is what some people used to fight in Vietnam, and love because that is what the story is about.)

A book title is your promise to the reader. In fiction, it should hint at, but not give away the story. Think of the titles of Dean Koontz books, usually just one word! For your book I would focus on the denied love rather than the war that caused the initial separation. Check thesaurus.com for synonyms for denied, delayed, separated, longing, etc. Consider hiring a book title consultant as the title is the first thing a buyer encounters. If it doesn't "sound good" immediately, the buyer will not investigate your book further.
