A "normal" person would not say that. It's a sign get out of that relationship! He will only get more controlling and possibly violent

I think that people say that to threaten you so you will be afraid to leave and so you won't do it. Or it could be because if they can't have you then they don't want anyone else to. this would be an unhealthy relationship that the individual would need to get out of.
