Police can tap into a prepaid Cell phone. However, in order to tap the phone systems, the y would need equipments of high technology that would enable them to tap and to track the pre paid cell phone.

The only thing private is when you talk in person. It's a little tougher to do, but they can do it. Source: my uncle who is a Chief at the po-po department. . :)

As an officer from a big city with a background in this area, trained by a federal agy, without giving away too many secrets, a device similar to an MIN EIN reader can catch the distinct phone signature and from there, it can be CLONED only with a court order.(Title 3 Warrant)

ANYTHING is possible but your best bet is to get a straight talk phone or a NET 10 phone..get a cheap 15-25.00 one. i assume your going to buying/using this phone for PRIVACY! it should be your secondary phone and you also have a normal cell.here are some tips to help you protect your privacy:

1.buy a net 10 or straight talk phone(cheapest one)NEVER buy a Go Phone,a boost or prepay phones companys offer you...These CAN be traced!

2.keep "phone "off and with the battery out until you go to use it (this time and effort is DEFINATELY worth it

3.NEVER your 2nd phone for longer than a month.(MAX)

4.WHEN YOU GET RID OF IT DESTROY THE SIM CARD AND PHONE WITH A BATTERY...OR BURN IT.
