Why is the fossil record an incomplete history of life?

Report as

Imagine you have a jigsaw puzzle. Scatter it all over the surface of the planet. Now wait a million or so years and then start looking for it. Say there are 400 pieces and you've found 25. How well do you think you can figure out what the puzzle is?

Because we have not discovered all there is yet. Be patient.

Why do I have that "tummy in the elevator" feeling?

Because you are feeling comfortable right now. Embrace and enjoy that for as long as you possibly can. I know the feeling......

Perhaps part of my impatience comes from the fact that God saw fit to put South Carolina and Michigan so far apart on the map, lol.

All good things will happen in their own good time.

I have no clue who I stole that from.....but I'm not giving it back just today.

Besides the obvious fact that we haven't dug up every square inch of the earth, fossils are hard to form. It's pretty amazing we have any.
