A friend of mine had sciatica and was given an epidural steroid injection. This injection is given to relief short-term pain and it usually last between 3 to 6 weeks only. The steroid solution involved here can be cortisone and a mixture of local anaesthetic which is given directly into the space around the spinal cord. You should also note that these drugs have an extremely strong anti-inflammatory outcome. You can visit http://www.back-pain-relief-advisor.com/sciatica-treatment.html for more information.
