I have a light purple flower growing on one stem that looks like a pine cone and blooms from the top downward. What is it?

There are four of these in my garden, planted in direct sunlight.

The flower plant may be Symphyotrichum patens. It has purple rays and clasping leaves. It flowers are attractive to butterflies. You may also inquire this in some of the online resources about flowers.
