Can a false prophet be a Christian?

Who would be better at it, really? There are so many examples of people who have been leaders of huge congregations both in churches and in different media. They were astonishing frauds. They professed to be Christian and lied, cheated, stole and behaved immorally. They were cons. But they were Christian con men (and women).

Oh, snap! I can just see these people looking around for ways to make an easy buck.... "Hey, what about this religion stuff? All we have to do is pretend that God is speaking through us, and people will give us money!"

No, as far as what I think, because false prophets are supposed to be trying to tell people false things about God, and they can't possibly be Christian if they are against God.

I don't think a false prophet can be a Christian. That's because a false prophet refers to someone who is prophesying false messages. That means in its not true and therefore not Christian.

I'm thinking of Jim Jones (Guyana), Jimmy Baker (and his lovely wife Tammy), David Koresh (sp?), just off the top of my head. Oh, yeah, they can be "Christians" alright.

Yes he was a MUSLIM AND JESUS(PBUH) WAS ALSO A MUSLIM. He was a messenger of ALLAH and not the God as his followers have made him GOD AND THE GOD SON.

Crow, muslims believe EVERYBODY is born a muslim but revert to other faiths. But they'd be highly insulted if you said THEY were born Jewish and reverted.

If you say a false prophet then the religion to which he belongs should also be false. Yes no false prophet can be either CHRISTIAN OR MUSLIM.

Yes that's the truth, but the people don't realize how close they(both religion) are and how FAR we are.

Then there is Jimmy Swaggert! I think some not all start out to be Christian but are weak for whatever reason and then they fall prey to get whipped by the devil. Some of them don't experience the choices until they get big and then their sin nature comes forth. Having preached before I learned early on the very sin that I condemn ( back in the day) was the very sin that would befall one the next week. As a preacher condemns (speaking against homosexuality for instance) then he gets accused of molesting boys. You see, we cannot judge, or we are judged by that same measure. So God said to me preach about His unfailing Love and be an example by helping those who found themselves unloved like me. So I don't preach! I nurture recovering addicts, prostitutes and the homeless, spent 32 years in projects and the slums of Atlanta as well as inmates in the jails. I worked with these ppl because for years the churches ministered across the world without looking in their own backyards you should have seen church folks reactions to me bringing the unchurched to their houses! this why I have a problem today identifying with ANY of them talk about False Prophets. who today can determine which is which? Go Figure!!! Just my thoughts Bless God!?!

And I am glad you are here. Did you leave your email I did check but haven't in the last 24 hrs . I simply had to take a break and grab some me time. This app can keep you going all day and all night you know you want to teach so much by some of these questions and answers. But in just a few days I will be starting my own blog and I have no idea what is next. I will share that info as soon as I pay the cost. I am excited!!! So I look forward to hearing from you in a context without haters I pray. Maureen
