for the most part schools have been teaching abstinence only education which doesn't cover how to have safe sex, only ways to not have sex. under the new affordable health care act, federal funding is now available for comprehensive education which teaches both. it is still up to the school which route of education they will take.
I agree with the prevalence of this subject and wonder the same thing! And another scary thought is, if they're so uneducated to not know enough to use protection, what happens when a baby is the result of their actions? How are they going to be smart enough to make good decision as parents?
