Is it okay to trust somebody until they give me a reason not to?

Or is it better to not trust somebody until they give me a reason to trust them?

You know, it's really a matter of what you want. If you want to take the risk of trusting someone, then go for it. You could get a great friendship, or lover, or anything really. Or maybe they'll stab you in the back. You never know, really. If you seclude yourself though, you'll always have that hint of doubt. My suggestion: Observe people's behaviors while you first meet them, and then decide if they seem trustworthy or not. Good luck!

Trust has to be earned. That's the way it should be.

I always trusted everyone, until I got burnt a few times...just be cautious, and pay close attention to their actions, not their words.

Neither. As you get older learn to trust your instincts, only. They become pretty sharp over time. In the past I always trusted people until they gave me reason not to trust them. Even when my gut said something was not right. Then I'd end up hurt. No matter how impolite it seems, be patient about forming friendships & saying or doing to much, too quickly.

Did you know that usually "following a gut feeling" is following the promptings of the Holy Spirit?

It's like God's guiding hand to me. You can almost sense when something is going to happen. It's pretty sweet.

I'd go into detail with you about my trust issues, but your bearded baby picture is making me suspicious, ha ha. :)

yes. but don't put yourself in situations where you could get hurt easily.time will make the trust level increase or decrease.

Maybe start in the middle with semi- trust. Until you really get to know a person well enough-- then you'll know where you stand with that particular person.
