Where can I find old obituary records for free

I need to find a relatives date of birth, this relative has been dead for 15 years and no other relative living to answer. I need this for job clearance. All of the sites want to charge for this. Does anyone know of any free sites?

Some weeks ago I was doing obituary search for a friend's great grandparent and I've used http://bit.ly/peopleinfo with success.

If you know the date of death and county/state, you may be able to contact or visit the library in that county and view the obituary. I received a copy of an obituary I was searching for, and the library that sent it used infoweb@newsbank.com.

You can use the ancestry.com to find old obituary records for free. You will be required to give out the first and last name, the place where he or she lived and the estimated birth year. For additional information of the same, visit http://search.ancestry.com/search/default.aspx?cj=1&o_xid=0001039688&o_lid=0001039688.
