Does this make sence grammatically?

I am doing a book report for school and I was wondering if this sentence made sence.

"He has fought him many a time before."

I really don't trust Microsoft Word so can someone please help me? THANKS! :)

Saying 'many a time' is old fashioned and stilted. No one says 'many a time' much these days. He has fought him many times before.
They have fought many times before.
