Is it okay, when you're a teenager, to try to take control of your life and not obey adults as much?

Like when your older brother says you have to help make dinner even though it isn't my or his night to do it and I say I'm not coming yet and he says I have to come now?

No wether u want 2 believe it or not ...most adults especially ur parents kno alot most likely cause they tried it b4 ... Wen u get older & legally u can do what u want jus remember there is a reaction to every action..

Its ok to help family with THEIR things to do (like make dinner) every once and a while to show you love them; but not enough where THEY think that they own YOUR life
............
Hope this helped---Cary

This is the worse thing you could do to yourself: not listening to grown-ups. You have no life experience whatsoever, and there are too many pitfalls out there. I have always listened to adults when I was growing up, and guess what? it paid out.

No way if I'm 100! I'll obey if they are reasonable but stuff like, "Don't go out after 12" I refuse to listen to!

Yes, listen your a kid...But at some point you need to learn about life on your own. Sure you might get in trouble, but you need to do your own thing to an extent...but dont disobey to much...and hes your brother, not parent. why take orders from him.

Well it was also an order from my mom. I was just frusterated because they wanted me right then and there but I wanted a minute.

No. always obey your parents. you have to do what they say untik you live under your own roof or until you are 18 years old. you have to help out parebts every now and then. now if they are acting out of laziness and simply did not have a hard day at all then don't do it.

Unless you are paying for everything and living on your own, you still have to play by mom and dad's rules. You have plenty of time to "take control of your life", show some respect for your parents and all the things they do for you.

Even as a teenager, you are still a kid. You have very little life experience. You are at an age where you are learning to interact with people older, younger and the same age as you. You are learning how to do tasks, that you will have to do on your own; when you are older. You never know, one of those tasks may be your future career. If you practice and learn how to make different dishes, you may want to become a chef. If nothing else, you may learn that you want to make enough money, to hire someone else to do your cooking and cleaning. That's called motivation.

Very true. I didn't think about that. I want to be a stay-at-home mother when I grow up and an inventor, and as a mom I will have to do a lot of cleaning. Of course, it would be great to hire a maid just for the kitchen, but that wont happen for a long time if at all!!!!

To be a stay-at-home-Mom, you can learn some things from your Mom (learn from her mistakes, instead of making the same mistakes) and then practice what you have learned by babysitting.
