How can I keep myself from eating out of boredom?

The best way to avoid eating out of boredom is by finding a project or hobby. You should try to keep your hands busy so that you don't want to snack or you can just exercise when you catch yourself nibbling.

Ugh, I have the same problem! I usually take a nap or find something to do like surf the web. Always gets my mind off food!

Have some self control and just tell yourself no. Find something else to do to occupy your time, and think about how guilty you're gonna feel after you eat it.

You may just replace your snacks on something less high-calorie - cherrys, pieces of melon etc

Only allow yourself 3 meals a day. with 1 snack in between. But make the snacks small. That way you won't want to eat out of boredom. Works for me!

You could try the following steps, but make sure you are ready for an overall change of environment and lifestyle...to make a change one needs to usually 'be the change'.
1. Have a daily routine and regular time for sleeping and wake up.
2. Join a gym/swim/play a sport, dance, jog or try any other physical activity that you may enjoy.
3.Everyday make a little plan for the next day - it could be as simple as wanting to clean up ur room/wardrobe or doing some school/college work or reading/gardening/music any hobby you enjoy - devote an hour or so everyday for it.
4.Meditation - really helps clear up our mind and wasted thoughts get transformed to positive energy and good health over the period of time...nothing beats meditation as with time one can really start indulging in it for hours and hours and it definitely is better than sleep!
hope this helps....i used some if these methods to change my life...im really much better now and wish u the same!

I used to do that, but now I just pick up a book and set a goal. Like say I want to get to page 430 by dinner, I'll do it.

Try chewing gum. I have that same problem! I just don't have a lot of gum.

One year I tried POPCORN. Kept some popped and I would just grab a bunch at first,after a few hours or days, the amount gets smaller. Lost about 30 pounds in 4-6 weeks, in fact one year I lost 63 pounds. Now, I eat mostly fresh vegetables and lots of fresh fruit, Fish, and meats. Last year, I started reducing the amount I ate. Ate what I wanted just smaller amounts. Soon started losing weight, kept reducing amount and my stomach would not take large amounts. In 6 months I lost 71 #. Starting again, I have lost 2# this week, in a few months I will have a large loss. I keep fresh mixed veggie salads made in the "produce green bags" and use italian or red vinaigrette dressing or a little salt
and lemon juice, garlic powder. It all depends on what you nibble on if you are still hungry, just eat another apple or grapes..

I do the similar. But I keep a lot of baby carrots. I eat them when I find myself wanting to eat out of boredom.

I chew gum, eat fresh fruits or vegetables when I find myself eating of boredom. I especially like to eat baby carrots. They are crunchy and sweet enough to be satisfying. Plus they are good for you and it takes more calories to digest them than what is actually in per carrot. So you burn calories while eating them.

Stay out of the house! even if your just loitering around. It really helps because theres no food out. It stops you from thinking about ever eating and gets you to do something more fun. I notice that if i stay out of my house after school, i dont even feel hungry. Thats the power of temptation.

Instead of eating and you don't have anything to do, just drink lots of water. It fills you up and keeps you healthy and water doesn't make you gain weight.

try checking out a novel of ur interest and grab a few chewing gums if u find urself not able 2 cntrol urslf

I've started eating a tossed (bagged) salad with light dressing or I snack on baby carrots, cucumber slices or cauliflower with a little ranch dressing. Crunchy veggies help the hunger. When I have it, I like rice cakes too. Can't digest popcorn, but it's a great snack! A little something won't hurt. Coffee or tea (decaf) helps fill me up too!

if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend that"ll keep your mind off food and if you don't then start to look for one because you'd probably be with them 24/7 then you'll forget about that food in mind.
