Managing pain with medication for some could be a permanent option, but it depends on the person. Coping with pain can be so cumbersome that it rules your thoughts, your emotions, and your life. But, there are many cases where it is good to feel your pain. Some need to be aware if what they do on a daily basis it causing harm and they don't even know it because they are so medicated. Too many are so medicated, they do no know if there is improvement or not. Sadly, there are many patients that abuse medications and doctors who are too quick to hand out medications.
Not necessarily- some MD'S will continue writing scripts for years - while in some cases this is a reasonable option considering the pain the patient is in - in other cases the MD is just writing scripts because the person has an addiction
The main purpose of pain management is basically to help the patient cope up with the pain, through effective or helpful treatment and/or medication. It is not actually meant to stop all the medication. Visit a medical doctor for more professional information.
