Why is my leopard gecko not eating anymore?

she hasn't eaten for days, possibly a week. I can tell her tail is getting thinner. at first she just wouldn't eat crickets, but now she has stopped altogether. what's wrong with her?

You might try a different food source. Mealworms are a very good/nutricious option. The most important thing, as with any living thing, is that the food your Leo eats passes ALL THE WAY THROUGH the digestive tract. The sand substrate that many pet stores sell for use with habitating lizards is not easily dissolved and can cause an intestinal impaction. Which can be fatal. Not to worry you, if caught in time the therapy for an impaction can be a nice bonding opportunity for you and your gecko...a warm water bath and gentle tummy massage!

I was feeding her mealies, and I have her on reptile carpet not sand.

does she have a heating pad, or electric heated stone to lay on? they need that warmth for digestion. she will not eat anymore and die if this is not provided. fairly inexpensive in pet stores, but better hurry!!

If the gecko looks healthy and doesn't lose weight rapidly, it's no need to worry. They can go for long without food. I suggest you check your setup and temperatures, make sure everything is ok. You should also leave them alone. Stress from handling, force feeding and such can make things worse.

One of my males didn't eat for almost 3 months, he's healthy, so I didn't worry.
