A few reasons..number one is for grooming/cleaning..2. Is for lower pack members licking the mouths of the pack leader or other dominant dog to taste the food they ate..and 3 would be anxiety reasons..like if your dog keeps Licking your hand he could possibly have security issues or high anxiety and he learned that licking calms him down!!! could be anything ..you need a dog psychologist or behaviorist to truly diagnose a problem

there are a ton of reasons but here are a few 1. all of your skin is covered in salt, so the dog will want to lick the salt on you. 2. dogs do get anxiety issues, so licking makes them feels more secure. 3. dogs do it yes, because they love you. dogs want to please you. so they do it to show love. 4. the last thing is, dogs are like a pack, the alpha is the leader, so like your mom or dad. your the lower group under them, and your dog? he is like the omega, so... to show respect dogs lick the upper levels for people or even other dogs. Also if your dog is like nasty to you and not to your mom or dad. its because they know your younger and they will take advantage of that. also dogs can scent fear and nervousness so try to act calm and brave around dogs. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP! THANKS!
