There is no legal requirement to tell your partner, however keep in mind that knowingly passing on HIV is (in most states) a criminal act. Even if you don't do it intentionally, if you know that you have HIV and you don't tell your partner, and they somehow end up contracting it, that can be actionable as well.
Your HIV status is not public record, most state health departments only use that data for statistical purposes.
Well I think if someone withholds VERY IMPORTANT information like HIV, should be tried for murder! You just killed that person and possibly others if y'all break up. My question is WHY would you hold something SO IMPORTANT from someone. Your playing with lives and that's very wrong! I think all states should make it legal that you have to tell that person, that way it's their decision, not yours if they want to catch it.
