If your dog is not neutered, it needs to be done NOW (sorry for the caps, but I don't have any other way to show emphasis). He is a teenager now, and this is the best time to neuter.

NCarolina is right, your dog is expressing dominance, but it is not something you want him to do all the time, and neutering will slow that way down or even stop it. Dogs do not have sex lives, they just respond to testosterone, and males who are neutered are much better companions when they don't have to deal with that all the time.

The world is overflowing with unwanted puppies and kittens, and over 12 million are killed in the U.S. each year because there aren't enough homes for them all. And remember that neutering means your dog will never get the most common kind of cancer in male dogs--testicular cancer.

Yo. Nuetering a dog is the personal choice of the owner. If you have a purebred with good markings, you may want let that budski keep his balls. And it does change the behavior of a dog. In some breeds, the dog may become lazier and gain wait. But like I said, personal choice. My speckled beagle is the Adonis of the dog world. He's keeping his balls for eternity.

The idea that neutering a dog changes his personality and makes him get fat is an old wive's tale and a complete myth. The only changes you would see in a male is that he would be less likely to hump the stuffed animals and people's legs, and a reduction in his need to roam. You would also have the peace of mind in knowing that your dog will not die of the most common killer cancer of male dogs--testicular cancer. These are good things.

I truly wish that we could somehow get people educated to the reality of spaying and neutering. There is also an old wive's tale that says a female should have a litter of puppies before she's spayed. That is complete nonsense, and is actually dangerous to the dog. The most common kind of killer cancer in females is mammary gland (breast) cancer. If a female dog is spayed before her first heat cycle, she will NEVER get that kind of cancer. You can ask your vet if what I'm saying is correct or not, and you will see that I am.

Just because someone has a purebred dog, it does not mean that dog needs to reproduce. Backyard breeders are the biggest threat to purebred dogs that exists today. People who don't know what they are doing are breeding congenital diseases INTO the breed.

Dogs are not a commodity, they do not exist so people can make money off of them. Men who tie their love of their own balls into the dog's balls are being silly. Dogs do not have sex, they mate. Dogs do not lay around fantasizing about sex like you do. Dogs do not have sex lives, and it's foolish to think that they do. You need to understand that your dog does not cherish his balls the way you cherish yours.

Yes, he is dominating the teddy. He is showing it that he is boss. That's what male pups do. I agree with TexasDogMom that he needs to be neurtered to stop this behavior.

Very common and normal! It will probably stop when you get him neutered. If that is the only thing he likes to hump, you're lucky. Watch Victoria Stilwell, Its Me Or The Dog, Season 2 Episode 1, "Pugsley". It's on Youtube
