What is the fascination with "fifty shades of grey"?

In simple terms, you wouldn't get the fascination until you read the book. The erotic fiction book is notable for explicitly erotic scenes that feature elements of BDSM. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifty_Shades_of_Grey for more on the book.

I saw the Dr. Oz show about the book. Made me curious. Is their an actual plot or is it all just "intimate" in nature?
