Besides a bee-bee gun, what can a person do about a really vocal dog my neighbor owns?

It's a huge scary rottweiler, and all he does is BARK. We've called the cops, that didn't help. What's next?

You have rights by law to peace at your home the dog owner has rights to have a dog however the dog owners rights end where yours begin. Call animal control call the town or city hall for the dog officer he will speak to the neighbor. The neighbor could be fined for each offense. This has happened to me where the annoying dog was outside all the time, barking. The dog officer told them what I told you. The neighbor had to bring the dog in at night and control him when he barked aimlessly in the day. The neighbor was so busy controlling his dog to avoid the fine that he got rid of the dog. Yeah;)

This actually sounds like a good plan.

Silent whistles don't always work. all dogs respond differently to them.

talk to your neighbor about it. if you already did that. have a neighborhood vote on weither they should keep or get rid of the dog.

thats pretty much what rottweilers are for, looking scary. just have a big long chat with the owner or fight back with loud music ;)

OMG is that guy for real.
They have sonic devices you can put on your fence, they aren't too cheap, but they could help. Petsmart has them for around $60 , and they have a 30 day money back guarantee, so if its sucks and doesnt work, take it back. good luck..

I also forgot to add... I have the cutest barking hound dog. I've never had my neighbors complain, and I do live in the middle of the woods.
But the barking drove us nuts. We have a citranella collar that he wears from time to time. It works great too and doesn't hurt them like a traditional shot collar. You could recommend this item to them.... if it can work on my mouthy walker hound , it can work on a rotti.... ps love the idea of you bring him some snacks, that may work too

Animals are intelligent as they sense your fear in them. Be kind to the animal and buy a cookie milk bone for him / her. You will be surprised to see that the dog will respond and will be happy with you. What ever you do, please don't harm the dog. Cruelty to animals and is against the law.

We have Bruce, the barking Beagle. Not nearly as intimidating as a Rottweiler... We just talked to him everyday, made friends. Now he's my backyard dog. He doesn't bark at us or our cats but barks at anything else that comes on his owners or our property. We just became part of his territory. Not a perfect solution but I get the benefits of a dog with no poop.

If you are in the city limits, there is usually a barking dog ordinance and decibel level ordinances. You should contact city or county Animal Control, not the cops.

Call the ASPCA... Then see if you can get your neighbors to join you sending them a check. The ASPCA is operated mostly on donated funds.

If the dog is left outside barking for long periods it should be taken away from them because it is suffering anxiety which is cruelty to an animal. The owner should also be arrested, jailed and/or fined.

If the dog is barking at night you can call the police and the dog can get taken away. I don't know why they would not do anything.

why the dog. its the owners fault he barks
Report as
I'm not saying it's the dogs fault. That is usually what happens is the dog gets taken away.

Throw it some meat and act nice to it, maybe the doggie will be nicer. Talk to the neighbors about the dog. If they don't do squat, call the non emergency police number.
