How were the traditional southeast asian farmers affected by european colonization?

geography..

Report as

The colonization had both positive and negative impacts, and some include opening up of their market to the world market; hence, better prices. They also lost their supplementary resources e.g. the textile industry, which was another income source. The loss of communal pasture and forests due to the European slash and burn tactics was another detriment too. There are more details on effects at http://era.anthropology.ac.uk/era_resources/era/peasants/se_asia_history.html
