Why do we are getting addicted to materialistic lust?

We don't practice self-control. And in modern society there's no pressure to. No one's held accountable for their actions anymore. If you get addicted to anything it's not your fault, you're a victim. Your parents didn't raise you right, or your gym teacher bruised your self-esteem in second grade. It's always somebody else's fault.

Very well put. We are living in the generation of entitlement. I was brought up to live by the 2 Rs? RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. What ever happened to that simple way of life?

Agree with racetotheace about life being simple. I'm 46 not a grandmother yet, not ready to b, but am already thinking i want to give my grandchildren all the love and time possible and b a good positive influence

*Getting* addicted? We've BEEN addicted for thousands of years! Empires used to go to WAR over material things (to pay for their expansion).

There are 3 parts which the human composed with it, and it suppose to be a combination in regularity between these 3 parts, which i mean the SPIRIT the MATERIAL and the MIND. people getting addicted to materialistic lust because they focus more on making the MIND and the SPIRIT working for their MATERIAL ( i mean for their outside and for their SUPERFICIAL parts) and it is related to money as first need for everything even for happiness, and it is wrong because all these parts that i mentioned above must be balanced and must be working to create a stable personality which help to find the right way of dealing with everything around of us and for facing life troubles strongly and achieve our wishes.
SPIRIT: for faith and emotions.
MIND: for thoughts.
MATERIALS : for tools.

this approach is really appreciable but there were some limitation, some rules and regulations that were meant to be followed and be truthful to oneself and now we dont know the logic behind those rules and we call it a myth

I guess that everyone who try to keep awareness about these parts and knew the value of each part will not get lost, because we should control ourselves and not let anything controlling us, for example try to control your money and never let the money control you. i think it is not a myth or something impossible.

it is not a human nature, because the nature of the human it is his humanity and being materialistic force you to use other humans for your interest without sharing it and you are then away of humanity or the humanity is as a secondary value in your life.
