Maybe I'm just getting older, lol, but I find that very few people enunciate these days. Also, some do speak very softly and lazily, as if it is a great effort just to speak. Between the lowered volume and the lack of enunciation, it can make it sound as if they are speaking through jaws wired shut. Among normal, vital, educated people, I have no problems discerning words, so I think it is just a sign of the times.

They probably don't speck up
I think the world is getting louder these days, no you are not deaf. People don't raise their hands anymore.
People whisper! It drives me nuts! I'm a Flight Attendant and it's loud on the plane and people STILL whisper to me when I ask them what they wanna drink. I say "See that great big noisy engine out there?" Ya gotta read lips!
Maybe a little of both. I grew up riding motorcycles and been to my fair share of concerts. This generation is more comfortable texting than talking and the generation before that preferred email.
