Couldn't John Edwards be charged with Adultery?

I know it's illegal in some states so where he and his mistress did inappropriate things he could be charged for, right?

Please please pleeeeease tell me how he can possibly be a good man? He cheated on his dying wife and then lied about it over and over again! He is just plain awful!
Report as
yes by having an affair while his wife was dying

@david - the sad truth is that a lot of people in power cheat on their spouses. It doesn't make it right, however it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with their ability to govern well. The country ran quite well under Clinton, and clearly he had issues keeping his pants zipped.

I just think it shows you have no morals and when it comes to a moral decision for the country he would make the wrong one.

No he can't (unfortunately) but he should be able to be charged with being a total slime ball and jerk! I don't understand how anyone cheats on their spouse but to continue doing that when your spouse is fighting cancer? There's a very special place in hell for this for this jerk.

His wife could have charged him with adultery in divorce court, but unfortunately - the poor woman is dead.

NC does have some adultery laws that might be relevant, and I know some woman sued an "other woman" successfully not too long ago for some crazy amount of money. I think the issue is that his wife would have had to file the charges - and she is currently deceased.
