I have seen four og these bugs in my house in the past four days. I don't know what it is...a beetle, maybe?

The insect is 1/2 inch long, thin, black, no pinchers in front, but has two stingers or pinchers at the end of its tail. When anything comes at it, it arches its back and brings the "stingers forward, much like a scorpion would do.

If this is what it looks like, it's an Earwig! They're icky little bugs. I have absolutely no idea why they're called Earwigs. They don't pose a real threat, so long as you don't start playing with them. But the pincers do hurt if they catch you. My advice is to just squish on sight, and if you have more than just four, call an exterminator.

I think the insect that you have described is known as an earwig. They have pincers at the end of their abdomen and are dark in color. They can be found in houses and usually come in through the doors or windows to seek shelter during the day as they are nocturnal. I have seen that in my house too and I do not feel good about it. I think my mom called it an earwig too, but I always thought she made up that name to scare me. If I have seen several of those in my home over the past few days is it worth it to look for residential pest control? I'm in Arizona and I thought the heat would keep the bugs away but I guess not.
