I did it with the patch but I did do all the things about recording time and stuff like that before I started. It was perhaps my 20th time trying to quit. I made it and it was 15 years ago. It was worth it. Good Luck, you will make it this time!
I had a few beers in me and bet two non-smoking friends $200 each that I could quit smoking. Knowing that I couldn't cheat because of our tight knit interactions and the loss of $400, I was successful.I chased parked cars for a couple weeks but after about a month I was 100% ok.That was 22 years ago.If that doesn't help, try this.....Add up how much you spend on smokes per month/year...car payment.?..mortgage ? new luggage? Good luck !!
Quit cold turkey... Man, I was smoking non-filtered Camels. Glad I stopped when I did.
Just throw out the smokes you have now, or give 'em away as a Christmas present, and bite the bullet. Try to focus on how much better your body will feel after a week or so, rather than concentrate on your craving. That helped me.
Oh, I also smoke cigars occasionally. Maybe that makes me a cheater. But in the end, one cigar a week is waaaaay less of a gamble with my health, even if I am still giving myself nicotine. It's not the smartest alternative, however.
Try the electric cigarette! I think you can get one model for $100, and the charges will give you a better nicotine fix than any cigarette. They sell them in malls usually. A few friends of mine have tried it quite successfully- it takes care of the oral fixation and nicotine cravings without loading you up with all that damn tar and gunk.
i tried the e cigarette, i tried patches, i tried gums, i tried lozenges, i tried mini lozenges i tried non-nicotine natural remedies, i tried EVERYTHING. I finally quit using www.becomeanex.org and www.whyquit.com and by finally getting TICKED OFF at myself that I had failed so many times and finally said to myself ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. i learned more about nicotine addiction from whyquit.com than i had ever heard before and i got the community support i needed from becomeanex.org i wish you luck. and like i remind people on becomeanex.org think of me cheering you on every time you need support in quitting smoking. because if i could be right beside you doing just that i would, any day.
Effexor and Champix and knitting to keep my hands busy. Tried Zyban before didn't work for me. I smoked for 30 years, and I managed to quit 3 years ago, and never going back. Don't even have cravings anymore, and I HATE the smell of cigarettes and MJ. Gross!!
I just stopped with willpower. I'm 30 years old and having been smoking for about I'd say 13 years. It's been about 10 days since my last one and I have no desire for any nicotine at all, the smell actually makes me sick to my stomach now. Its super easy if you really want to stop, at least for me, I was just sick of it, good luck to you.
I got a scrip from my Neurologist for Chantix. I hve heard all the horror stories about it--did not have problem 1. My mom was bedridden and living with my wife and me and we had 2 ladies that were caregivers/LVN types. I had been given other medicines that othat had histories of making people suicidal and that I would really like notice if I started acting strange-with my wife and the 2 caregivers keeping a low key watch on me I had NO PROBLEN+MS.Ihad arelatively new carton and my quit date was FEB. 4 years ago .Ilst my FIRST REALLserios girlfriend, both my parents'a cousin who eas not mentally incompetent but she was special,my wife got the stage 3 version of breast cancer like my fifirst had,Ihave a lot of bad pain problem that I am maximizing myneural stimulator, maxinizing on drugs from my pain doctor tha just dob't work--withot surgert to go with them--surgery every 2 weeks---I WASN't TEMPTED.If I could do it Iknow you can do lt! GET-ON-LINE someone will have been in your shoes --I made thru stuff that would have made me look likr a sieam rngine.I'm trying to say I was weak but made it with alittle help from my friends, GOOD LUCKl
Hypnosis. Too often, hypnosis is the last thing people try to quit smoking. Fortunately, it's the last thing people will need to try to quit smoking. It has an 80% to 90% success rate. Go on line and search hypnosis and smoking cessation. You'll find quite a few scientific studies that tout the benefits and success rates for hypnosis and smoking. It works.
BTW....cold turkey has a less than 6% success rate and there are some people who need help getting off the patches and gum. Electronic cigarettes are simply a nicotine delivery device. While better than smoking the real thing, it's still a crutch for an addiction that will still need to be broken. Look at the side effects and warnings for Chantix and I think you'll opt for something else - anything else.
