You will be laid to rest for ever. You will be raised on the day of the judgement. You are accountable for all the deeds you have done in this world. You will be handed over your report card on the day of the judgement and you will be suitably rewarded accordingly.
As the Catechism says, death puts an end to human life as the time open to either accepting or rejecting the divine grace manifested in Christ. In other words there are no opportunities to grow in holiness, no second chances. After we die we immediately stand before the judgement seat of Jesus and He will reward us based on how we have lived our lives, on how we have responded to the blessings and graces He gave us. This is called the particular judgement, because it refers to each of us individually. If we have died in the state of grace, we will go to Heaven or spend some time in purgatory. If we have died in a state of mortal sin, we will immediately go to Hell. Many of our culture are afraid of death. Why? Probably because they do not really grasp the meaning of life. We need to prepare ourselves for death by living our lives as Jesus calls us to, by loving Him with all our strength and loving our neighbors as ourselves. Many of the great saints longed for their time on earth to come to an end so that they could go home to be with the Lord. They were unafraid of death because they understood the purpose of life and lived it: They loved.
we go to eternity!!! what a great place will heaven be(: imagine seeing Abraham, David, and even Jesus! in hell, people will suffer eternal torture with regret...the worst part is that we will remember our earthly lives so clearly and wish to live again
The scariest thing imaginable.... ....you ready for it... ....here it is.... ....the unknown. We don't know for sure what happens. I do believe in God, and my beliefs are Christian biased. But ultimately we don't know. This is were faith comes in. Even an atheist has faith. Now, before I get a bunch of hate mail, yes atheism is NOT a religion; but they have faith that there is nothing after death. This is why death is so scary; we, as humans, have a great fear of the unknown. God bless
the only ones who have a clue are newborns, near deathers and certain master shaman types who sit in the center between past and future. everyone else is either guessing or hoping that some cosmic landlord exists and cares about their suffering. personally, I don't know at all and couldn't care less. at 65 I've determined that one is never too old to have a happy childhood.
If you want a really good answer to that question ask JW's next time they knock on your door. They will show you many scriptures that show the true condition of death and you will be satisfied with the answer.
Nothing happens. There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol.- Ecclesiastes 9:10. When a person dies, he ceases to exist because death is the opposite of life. When we die we don't see or hear or think. Not even one part of us survives the death of the body because we don't have an immortal soul or spirit. Life is like the flame of a candle. When the flame is put out, it doesn't go anywhere. It's just gone.
(Psalm 146:3, 4) Do not put your trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. 4 His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. (Ecclesiastes 9:10) All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She?ol, the place to which you are going.
(John 5:28, 29) Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.
Death is the end of life on earth, the journey a man undertakes alone. When one dies, he abandons his body indicating his abandoned pleasures, sorrows and dear ones. The body perishes but the soul remains. The soul continues the journey to heaven or hell- depending on the deeds done by you in your past life. This journey is called 'after-life'.
“The living are conscious that they will die,” said wise King Solomon. (Ecclesiastes 9:5)
What happens at death is no mystery to Jehovah, the Creator of the brain. He knows the truth, and in his Word, the Bible, he explains the condition of the dead. Its clear teaching is this: When a person dies, he ceases to exist. Death is the opposite of life. The dead do not see or hear or think. Not even one part of us survives the death of the body. We do not possess an immortal soul or spirit.
After Solomon observed that the living know that they will die, he wrote: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” He then enlarged on that basic truth by saying that the dead can neither love nor hate and that “there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in [the grave].” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10) Similarly, Psalm 146:4 says that when a man dies, “his thoughts do perish.” We are mortal and do not survive the death of our body. The life we enjoy is like the flame of a candle. When the flame is put out, it does not go anywhere. It is simply gone.
there is a very good documentary i recently watched about this topic. You aren't the only one who wonders about it. If you really want to go in depth with this, do some research yourself and at least TRY to get answers on your own. Especially with these topics...it's kind of personal. You should find your own belief, your own answers... a lot of these people are on the right path but a lot aren't and if you listen to everyone here, you're only going to get confused. Remember that only God is almighty and powerful, ask him for answers...I know a LOVING God that cares about you and wants to answer your questions and clear your doubts. and if you learn to love God-not because your lips confess it, but because your deeds show your love and faith in God, you will not have to worry about death and it will become something you long for. Many believers dont find death to be a scary thing, but a lot of people are scared to die because they have no faith. dont let that be you.
the name of the documentary is called Afterlife. you can find it on Netflix if you have it. i hope you find answers :)
This is a very interesting question, because today no one can actually answer this question, not even the doctors. but The Bible gives us the answer. In Psalms 146:4, we read that His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish. And in the book of Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 we can read this: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She?ol, the place to which you are going" So it is very clear that when we die, that is the end, nothing else happens. There is no after life, there is no fiery place that we will suffer. God is a god of love, says 1 John 4:8, so he will not let us in hell. There fore we can be sure that When we die, that is the end. But is there any hope for the dead people? God has promised a beautiful hope for those who die or who will die. If you would like to know more about that, please contact me and I will be happy to help you to get the answer.
The prophet Alma in the book of Mormon explains to us, "Now, concerning the state of the (spirit) between death and the resurrection--Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life. And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow. And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of the wicked, yea, who are evil--for behold, they have no part nor portion of the Spirit of the Lord; for behold, they chose evil works rather than good; therefore the spirit of the devil did enter into them, and take possession of their house--and these shall be cast out..."
