I am 15. I got my first period 6 months ago when I was 14. I never told my mom but I want to now. She got hers at 15.

Please help. I don't even wear a bra yet and I'm the Oldest of three girls. Once my little sister was bleeding and it was something else but my mom thought it was her period and she was good about it. But I know my mom won't be happy about it. When and how should I tell her. Should I tell her that I got it before or just pretend like my next one is my first?? Thanks.

You can't help getting your period. You are 15, you should know this. If she gets upset about it she needs some kind of therapy.

Tell her. My god, this is something you should be able to talk about with her. I cannot imagine what kind of mother would be mad about her daughter beginning to menstruate. Perhaps tell her you were embarrassed to tell her when you first started your period. She may already know if you're not buying your own feminine products and using hers.

Why do you need help? Getting your period is wonderful -- I am the oldest of four girls and I got mine first, too. It means that your body is working like it should, and that you are on your way to being able to have babies someday! It's a miracle and a mystery and it's just something that you share with your mother...what's wrong and why are you so scared to tell your mom?

Having your period is a normal and healthy thing - there is nothing wrong with you because you got your period - it means you are becoming a woman and that is a good thing. If your mom is unhappy that you got your period that is her problem. But is she is not happy because you did not tell her, you should think about why you did not tell her? Were you afraid? Should be nothing to be afraid of.

Tell her and be honest. It's a natural for us to be nervous or scary. I was scare to tell my mom too. Good luck.

I'm 13 and I got my first when I was 11. I told my mom the day I got it and she actually went easy on me for the first year. Every time I had my period she would know because I would get all moody or give her a hint and she would let things slide. I didn't have to do chores or she would make me something different if I didn't like what she was originally making for dinner. it was pretty great, except for the cramps.

Your mom will not be mad because your period is part of growing up. Just tell her you started your period. If she asks about previous months then be honest. You should not have to hide it from her. Besides you will need supplies and it's usually awkward to buy them yourself in the beginning. Let your mom enjoy this moment with you. You can also use it as a means to get your first bra. Just tell her you eould feel better about having a bra.

Thank you so much. Now that I think about it I don't think she'll be mad maybe a little sad. But maybe not even that. Thanks.

No need in being scared or ashamed. This is something you are gonna have for a long time honey. Just take a deep breath and maybe say a little prayer for strength and just tell mom the truth!!! Its no big deal really...
