My Mercedes 280CE makes a ticking noise when I accelerate what could this be

idk a valve needs adjusted -

When the engine of your 280CE makes a ticking noise, then you need to change the oil with something like 15w40 diesel engine oil. You should also try to boost the engine to 3000rpm. The noise is normally caused by overheating of engine.

Sounds like a spark knock. Try using higher grade gas in it

Yea put better gas in it or an octane boaster in it

Yeah I agree with the ones above it sounds like you need premium. Put some in and see if she still knocks
